I rode into Great Bend today. Not much different happened on the ride. It was hot and humid. It is the 4th of July and we were grateful for this great nation we live in. We knew the city had had their city fireworks last night.
I met Kathie at a parking lot as we came into town. She had already talked to three campgrounds. The first one we went to was full by the time we got there (too small). The second place we went to we had to chase around in the heat to find the manager (too big). The third place we went to we had been told didn’t have any space. The lady was real friendly and offered us a private place with great shade next to a storage shed in an industrial park with security cameras to make us even more comfortable (just right). We settled in for a quiet night’s rest.
That night it was anything but quiet. I think every company in the industrial park had employees over to shoot off their fireworks. All the booms and flashes went on until past midnight. God bless America!
